When high-powered book editor Margaret Tate (Sandra Bullock) faces deportation to her native Canada, the resourceful quick thinking executive decides she will announce her engagement to to her unknowing assistant Andrew Paxton (Ryan Reynolds) who she`s hounded and tormented for years. Agreeing to the strange proposal he suggests a few rules of his own and so the romantic comedy begins a the pair try to pull off the charade.
